Who are the Southern Baptists of Mississippi?
Southern Baptists of Mississippi (S.B.O.M.) is looking to this new year with great anticipation. But maybe you are asking “Who are the Southern Baptists of Mississippi?” In a brief explanation, S.B.O.M. is an association of like-minded churches and individuals that can be characterized by three definite statements:
The first is Doctrinal Purity. S.B.O.M. has a doctrinal statement that is founded in Scripture. S.B.O.M. has adopted the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 as our doctrinal statement. S.B.O.M. supports the conservative resurgence in the Southern Baptist Convention and the SBC Cooperative Program.
Our second statement relates to a Direct Polity. What is meant by this is that every pastor of every participating church has a vote and voice on the S.B.O.M. board. No one is left out; everyone is important. Each church is directly involved in the decision-making process.
Our third statement involves Dynamic Partnerships. S.B.O.M. has partnered with other churches to help each other in evangelism and outreach. S.B.O.M. is developing partnerships with educational institutions that instruct men of God in the fundamentals of the faith.
S.B.O.M. desires to partner with hurting pastors and hurting churches to help in bringing restoration, reconciliation, and usefulness again.

Here We Stand
Reaffirming the Biblical principles and practices for the individual, the church, the nation, and our world.
We, who are Bible-believing, Bible-teaching Baptist churches in the State of Mississippi, declare that we are obediently following the leadership of the Holy Spirit in developing this association of churches to be known as Southern Baptists of Mississippi.
We believe in the plenary, verbal inspiration of the Word of God; both the Old and the New Testaments; and accept the Bible as the inspired, infallible, inerrant Word of God. We believe that the Holy Spirit, (third person of the God-head), is in this world convicting the lost, and indwelling the saints. We find our faith and message and all that is necessary for the practice of that faith in the Word of God. We believe “all scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” (2 Timothy 3:16,17)
S.B.O.M. believes and endorses the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 as a correct reflection of the doctrines of our faith. We accept the exclusivity of salvation in Jesus Christ and that He is the one and only Son of God. We believe in the virgin birth and the literal, physical, and bodily death, burial, resurrection and imminent return of Jesus Christ for His Bride, the Church.
We recognize and accept the authority of the local church believing that all associational and denominational works, agencies and institutions are but extensions of and subservient to the local church. We wholeheartedly support the conservative resurgence of the S. B. C.
This document is but an affirmation of our historical, and Biblical stance regarding the Word of God.
